New from Cryptozoic Entertainment, Gravwell!

Every once in a while a game comes along that is so simple, and so straight forward, you scratch your head and think, "why didn't I think of this?".  Then you realize you're laughing so hard from the resulting actions players take in the game to care and you just enjoy the ride for what it is!

Gravwell, from Cryptozoic entertainment, does just that.  It's a simple game to learn and to teach, but it will take you on a wild, fun filled, treacherous ride!  And a ride you soon won't forget!  We say it a lot in this video, but we'll say it one more time, this is the gem of Gen Con 2013.  It's beautiful, it's simple, it's fun, and it's original.  So why should we say anything else... let's play some Gravwell!

Asmodee presents: Rise of Augustus!

Serving the 1st Roman Emperor, Augustus, you will need to mobilize your legions to control provinces of the Empire and its senators to ultimately obtain the title of Consul. The aim of the game is to earn as many points as possible before any players has taken control of seven objectives. Throughout the game play, players must strategize so as to manage the risk of claiming the rewards that are available to them in order to maximize the points gained. Players also have the opportunity to wreak havoc with their opponents by causing them to lose some of their legions or objectives, thus foiling their plans on becoming the next Consul!

88 objective cards; 50 legions (tokens); 2 mobilisation tokens; 12 rewards; 1 cloth bag; 1 score pad; and 1 rule book.

Interesting game of opportunity and tactics that is a twist on an old family favorite.

Contact your Alliance Sales Rep to receive credit for this Paizo recall

Alliance Customers,

Paizo Publishing has issued a recall for Pathfinder Flip-Mat: Arcane Dungeons (PZO 30052).
Return Deadline is Friday, August 30, 2013.
Defects in the manufacturing process, including the use of incorrect paper stock and improper folding, caused the Pathfinder Flip-Mat: Arcane Dungeons to crease within its original packaging, wrinkling the protective coating. While this affects the cosmetic appeal and mars the usability of the flip-mats, there are no safety concerns with this product.

Recall Credit Instruction:
Retailers, please contact your Alliance Sales Rep to arrange for a return authorization number. Cut out the UPC code portion of the product packaging to send to Alliance in the return to receive credit for the items. You will need to destroy the product. All returns need to be processed and received by Alliance no later than August 30, 2013 to be eligible for credit.

UPC codes should be mailed back to:
Alliance Game Distributors
3102 Brooklyn Avenue, Suite B
Fort Wayne, IN 46809
Attn: Sue Gering

Retailers should clearly identify their store with the return!

Unfortunately, the next flip-mat in the product line, Pathfinder Flip-Mat: Thieves Guild (PZO 30053) shares the same defect and will not make its original July 2013 release date. This flip-mat is being reprinted, with a rescheduled release date TBD.

We appreciate your cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Wizards: Gateway to Core Store Announcement!

Awesome announcement from Wizards of the Coast! Read the announcement below which was posted on Wizard's website Wednesday July, 31st!

"I'm happy to announce a new program for stores to move from Gateway to Core. Let's get started!

Gateway to Core

One of the challenges of being a gaming retailer in the Wizards Play Network is making the shift from Gateway to Core. To help Gateway stores make this transition, we're introducing a new program appropriately entitled "Gateway to Core." This program will help teach stores that offering organized play is the best way to grow your community of players and attract new Magic customers. It will also help prepare the store to begin offering Friday Night Magic. As a program intended to help newer or less experienced stores grow their understanding of organized play, it will be available exclusively to Gateway stores.
The kits provided through this program will contain materials and information to help educate Gateway retailers about the benefits of running frequent, quality events, and suggested best practices for making that happen. An introduction to Wizards Event Reporter is also provided. The Gateway-to-Core program will function similarly to the current League model, with no day-specific requirement for hosting events. Finally, the program will provide Magic token cards to be provided to players as a reward for participating in the store's organized play events.

We'll post an announcement soon, with instructions for Gateway-level stores on how to schedule Gateway to Core in Wizards Event Reporter."
